Application Specialist, Mobile HomeCage® Products

Neurotar’s research equipment facilitates high-precision tests in awake, behaving mice. More than 200 labs worldwide use Neurotar’s proprietary Mobile HomeCage® to integrate 2-photon & fUS imaging, electrophysiological recordings, and optogenetic stimulation with behavioral observation. The number of publications featuring the Mobile HomeCage® is steadily growing. This is an exciting time to join Neurotar’s sales and support team!

We’re looking for more than qualifications; we’re seeking a team member with a passion for neuroscience, a positive attitude, high flexibility and autonomy, and a talent for communication.

This position offers a fantastic entry into the industry for a recent Ph.D. graduate or a highly motivated and organized Ph.D. or MSc student wishing to utilize their science training while learning new sales & marketing skills.

Job tasks

The application specialist supports customer labs, identifies new labs whose research would benefit from Neurotar’s solutions, and successfully negotiates equipment purchases. The right candidate can

  • Understand customer needs and effectively communicate the Mobile HomeCage® benefits and features to customers, prospects, and sales partners;
  • Identify and actively pursue new sales opportunities;
  • Provide technical/scientific support and product training to prospects, customers, and sales partners;
  • Actively engage in digital and social media marketing;
  • Develop marketing materials and documentation for product release, training, and use;
  • Actively participate in trade shows, roadshows, and demos;
  • Perform quality inspections;
  • Carry out proof-of-concept and validation experiments.

Qualifications

  • MSc (neuroscience or related field), Ph.D. is a plus;
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English;
  • High level of autonomy, resilience, and optimism.

Desirable

  • First-hand experience with animal research (in rodents);
  • Lab experience in 2-photon imaging or electrophysiology;
  • Video recording and editing;
  • Track record of getting things done.

Product Specialist, Mobile HomeCages

Neurotar develops innovative research equipment for academic and industrial neuroscience labs in Europe, North America, and Asia. The number of our customer labs is approaching 200, and we are looking for a team member who can ensure the best prices, quality, uninterrupted supply, and efficient technical support to our global customers.

Your age is less important than your flexibility and desire to contribute: this position can be equally suitable for an early-career engineer with abundant energy and enthusiasm and a seasoned professional with decades of experience and extensive networks.

Qualifications:

  • Degree: Bachelor (Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering)
  • Relevant work experience: 1+ years
  • Software skills: 3D CAD (Fusion 360 (preferred) or SolidWorks)
  • Language requirements: fluent English and Finnish
  • Programming skills (desirable, not required): LabVIEW (preferred), C#, or Python
  • Personal qualities: integrity, teamwork, flexibility, hands-on approach
  • Travel requirements: travel in Finland (moderate) and abroad (1-2 times per year)

Areas of responsibility:

Supply chain 40%

  • Supplier relationships & new supplier identification
  • Oversight of inventory
  • Technical documentation
  • Quality inspections (incoming & outgoing)

Support to sales and marketing 30%

  • Support to the sales team and direct support to Neurotar customers (compatibility of Neurotar’s solutions with third-party equipment)
  • Customization
  • Technical documentation (product/data sheets, manuals, instructions, assembly videos)
  • Warranty and repair

Product development 30%

  • Design and development according to specifications
  • Overseeing product development projects.
